To protect our state’s health, TEA has asked us to help us raise awareness about preventing the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses, such as Zika, West Nile, and dengue. Mosquito activity increases with warmer weather, and so does the threat of these illnesses. TexasZika.org has free information and materials in English and Spanish.
Parents can visit www.TexasAssessment.com and Log In with your child’s STAAR Access Code available from your campus or use the Access Code Look-up Feature at TexasAssessment.com.
A team of ten LTHS staff members and 23 students who gave of their time, heart and muscles Friday, December 15.
They traveled to Cedar Hill Police Department where 900 boxes containing 50,000 toys for Toys for Tots were being stored on the second floor of the Police Department. These toys were donated by Diamond Wishes Children's Charity. They needed some "bodies" to carry these boxes to a 54 foot FedEx Container so they could be shipped to Santa!!
Our crew made light work of these 900 boxes and moved all 900 in one and a half hours.
I cannot recall a time I have been so proud of our staff and students.
Our students and staff set a $200 goal to raise money for a family in Houston that was impacted by Hurricane Harvey. We met that goal, and then some. We raised $1000!
Staff members have been sending in some amazing pictures of what is going on inside and outside their classrooms. We will continually update the photo albums you can find under the Our District link at the top of district main page.
