Challenge Program
The Challenge Program is for students K-12 whose mental health issues are impeding their academic progress at regular campuses. They come here so we can assist them in gaining the necessary social, emotional, behavioral, and academic skills to be successful at their home campus. Typically students in this program stay at Challenge an average of 1-2 full school years. Approximately 70% of the students reintegrate successfully back to their home campus. This program has been in operation for about 10 years now.
We serve five districts in Denton County- Aubrey, Ponder, Krum, Pilot Point, and Sanger. At this program, our staff members can provide more individual support to help the students learn coping skills they will be able to use throughout their life, comprehensive resources for the student and the guardian, and more individualized instruction to help fill the gaps in their learning. The goal of the Challenge Program is to help the students reintegrate back to their home campuses.
We currently have one elementary class, one intermediate class, and four middle school and high school classes. Each class has a teacher and a paraprofessional to better provide individual support to each student. These classes have no more than six students in each.
